Following the Government’s response to the NHS Future Forum recommendations, a set of amendments to the Health and Social Care Bill has been published in Parliament for debate during Committee.
Briefing notes that describe the purpose and effect of the amendments have also been published. The briefing notes follow the structure of the Government response.
The Public Bill Committee is due to meet to debate the amendments on 28 and 30 June.
The Committee is also seeking written evidence on the particular parts of the Bill that have been re-committed. Submissions should address matters contained within the clauses and schedules of the Bill that have been re-committed and concentrate on issues where you have a special interest or expertise, and factual information that you would like the Committee to be aware of. More information on the Parliament website.
The Government published its response to the Future Forum on 20 June, setting out the changes it intends to make in response to the recommendations.

Despite some positive moves, I think the revised plan is still too muddled and may cost the tax-payer dearly. Surely it would be better to put this on hold until the Autumn so that all issues can be properly resolved?
We surely do not want to repeat the mistakes of the poll tax or rail privatisation with our NHS.
